Mutterings that Matter

O sweet child of mine!

As per the latest government directive children below the age of 14 will not be allowed to work from now on. Whether it is as servants in a home, or in the hotels, and other small scale industries. People making them work will be penalised.

Good for these kids - but I'm wondering what they will do if they do not work. Will the government ensure that these kids will now be forcibly put through school or will they be taught a trade? If that's the case then maybe it will be better for these kids and their families in the long run. What about the short term - how will the families who have been depending on the income of their kids be able to survive to see that day. I wonder if the government is thinking in that direction.

Will it create more crime because of no livelihood for these kids. Will we have more beggars. Will we sensitize ourselves to ensure our not so lucky next generation is taken care off and become responsible citizens.
